The Khotan Oasis lies on the southern rim of the Takla Makan desert in the Chinese province of Xinjiang, once known as "East Turkestan".  Khotan was one of the major trade stops along the southern route of the Silk Road. This design is of the typical "Coffered Gul" variety, one of the 5 classic design groups from East Turkestan.  The alternating colors of both the medallions and rosettes animate the design. The "Cloudhead" border, which has roots in Chinese Buddhism, makes a lively contrast with the rectilinear effect of the field.

This hand knotted classical Chinese rugs using 100% natural dyes and superior quality hand spun wool with finishing procedures to ensure a genuine  antique look and feel to the carpet. Thses rugs can be made in custom sizes.
