Carpet making in China, in terms of beauty and artistic merit, reached its Zenith during the reign of the Qing dynasty emperor Kangxi (1661  1722). Carpets woven during this period have recently acquired the designation of Classical Chinese Carpets. Only a few hundred are still in existence today and are highly valued for their aesthetic qualities.  Peonies & Butterflies is an example of a  Kangxi period design.  Rows of stylized peonies alternate with rows of butterflies, each in different color combinations. Depending on the direction the carpet is viewed from, either the flowers or the butterflies are facing upward. 

This hand knotted classical Chinese rugs using 100% natural dyes and superior quality hand spun wool with finishing procedures to ensure a genuine antiquelook and feel to the carpet.
