This rug is a recreation of a late 19th century carpet of the “Peking” style.  During the last decades of the Qing dynasty, which ended in 1911, China’s carpet trade with western European countries, as well as with America, flourished. The design sensibilities of east and west embraced to produce oriental carpets with a noticeable European influence. This design may have drawn inspiration from France’s Aubusson, and Savonniere traditions.

This hand knotted classical Chinese rug uses 100% natural dyes and superior quality hand spun wool with finishing procedures to ensure a genuine antique look and feel to the carpet. This rug can be made in custom sizes. This rug can be made in custom sizes.
